The record Halibut caught on a rod was taken by Thomas Nielsen, Denmark (pictured right).
It weighed 190 kg, a world record at that time (2004). This has later been bested, again near Vannøya.
Vannøya not only offers great sea fishing, but also has several good trout lakes.
It is also possible to fish for Atlantic Salomon in the Skipsfjord river.
